Spring River Campout

Jacob and I returned yesterday from a much needed get away to Spring River Oaks. Other than the big storm Friday afternoon, it was a wonderful weekend. James, Jerri and the kids joined us on Saturday morning. (The storm held them up in Jonesboro the night before). We were really glad to see them. We floated down the river on tubes off and on all day. We spent time watching all the drunks wipe out down at the point. (Thats always good for a few laughs). I have added a few pics from our weekend in my photo album. We had fun even though we were missing some of our favorite camping buddies (Curtis, the Foppianos and the Richersons. ) Maybe next time!

The Army is like talking to a brick wall!

Ok, let me tell you what I learned today. I learned that there are far more idiots running our military than I ever imagined. Let me give you a good example. I have spent weeks and weeks filling out form after form, all asking the same questions over and over. I believe I talked about this in an earlier blog, one packet of forms questioning the last packet of forms. I was led to believe that these documents were of the upmost importance and that I needed to get them done quickly. I found out today that these documents were so important that once I returned them to the appropriate military personnel, they were left sitting forgotten on the corner of a desk for weeks. (Imagine that) So now the Army cant cut Curtis'orders for Germany until these papers are processed, but they think it will take too long to process them (or most likely just cause somebody to have to do their job). So they have set about trying to convince Curtis that the better thing to do is to just take an assignment here in the US. If we do this, then all the work Ive done the last few months preparing for this has been for nothing. The $300 I just spent on passports (because the Army never got to the paperwork for the "no fee" passports) is just for nothing. Now I sit here not knowing where we will be living just a few weeks from now and thats courtesy of our US Army!! But what do you expect with George Bush at the wheel!

Frazzled!!

I have spent two stressful days dealing with paperwork for passports. After being yanked in several directions at one time (and getting caught in the pouring down rain just minutes before having my passport photo made), I believe I just about have that wrapped up. This is one more thing I can check off of my 2-page "to do" list. YEAH!! I get to spend this afternoon at the 467th turning in a few items for Curtis and picking up that "elusive" guitar. (Yes it finally turned up!) Maybe with all this done, Ill finally be able to relax. Ofcourse Ill still be counting the days until Curtis gets back home-4 weeks left! As much as he likes to aggravate me, I still miss him a lot. Anywhoooo, its time I got back to work on the housework and laundry. It isnt going to take care of itself! :)

Chloe

My Chloe needs a new home. I have had her for 7 years and she is like one of the family. She hates to travel and never leaves the house. She never even goes outside (she is spoiled). So Im thinking it would be easier for her to find a new home instead of dragging her around the world with us. She's very sweet, she never tears up anything in the house and likes to snuggle at bedtime. She would make a great companion for an elderly person or a single person. Let me know if anyone comes to mind who could take her in. Thanks!

What to do......??

I have come to the end of a busy day and now I sit here wondering what to do with the rest of the evening. Curtis is still in Maryland, the kids both have plans this evening with friends. I seem to be the only one without a plan. Well atleast one that doesnt involve housework, laundry or cooking. Now that the kids are teenagers I find myself in this situation a lot. They are very independent now, they dont need "Mom" as much as they did when they were little. This is when a lot of women my age decide to have another baby. I dont think Ill be falling into that trap. Im thinking Ill pick up a new hobby instead or maybe Ill just enjoy all the freedoms that come with having half-grown kids. As far as this evening, Ive decided to just enjoy the time to myself. You know, hot bath, glass of wine, good book or chick flick. All the things you cant seem to get to when your husband and kids are at home. So everyone, have a great weekend!!!!!

Inner Circle- girls night out-whats the plan??

Dazed and Confused

I have spent two days trying to get paperwork done for the Army. It seems like we will never be done with that. Every time we finish one packet of forms and send it in, here comes another one questioning the first one. Today I am dazed and confused from looking through pages and pages of questions that the Army already has the answers to somewhere in their files. Im wondering if the Army will ever really get it together. I also have decided that the job of Army wife should be an official title that comes with a paycheck and retirement. Where are our medals and awards?? How about an award for surviving your first deployment, a medal for handling kids and running a household on your own for weeks, months or a year at a time or maybe one for the fastest move during a change of duty stations? After twenty years as a military spouse there should be a big party celebrating your survival skills. We should get a big bonus or atleast something pricey....Im thinking big diamond or a rolex. Ok sorry..I was daydreaming for a moment. Back to reality, Im off to handle more business for the Army. Have a great day!!

So the boys and I will be busy preparing for the big move when he returns in August. We had a great 4th of July weekend together. We cooked on the grill, shot fireworks with the kids and just enjoyed having some quiet time together. Well Im over my head in laundry and housework after this weekend so Ill close for now. Hope everyone had a happy 4th and Ill talk to you all soon.
